As part of a series of portrait interviews conducted by Tania Rodamilans, I shot and edited a photo session with Monsoon Pottery. Danielle Chutinthranond is a profound woman and I was inspired by her story and the way she approaches her craft. I wanted to capture the endurance and physicality of the work she does, as well as the thought process and attention to detail that goes into each and everyone of her pieces. 

“It was the most relaxing and fun time I’ve had in a long time. What started as a photo session ended up being a family style shared meal with friends. It was a pleasure to have Niko in my studio and my door is always open should she want to take photos, talk pottery or exchange best wok seasoning techniques and recipes.”

I directed, shot and edited a short film for Chris de Lizer’s Gayatri Yoga Sessions for Body and Mind. It was a pleasure to visually capture the way Chris moves with ease from one pose to the next. Seeing her work with one of clients, I was struck by how the meditative nature of her work bring body and mind in alignment and heals the soul. 

“I am not a fan of having my picture taken and I tend to shy away from the spot light, but Niko managed to make me feel comfortable during our long video session. She was able to direct me to get the footage she needed  in a way that didn’t interrupt my flow.  I was able to get in the zone and go though my yoga sequence as if I was  the only one in the studio. Her gentle demeanor and respectful approach to being in a my sacred space was truly appreciated. The result is the kind of work that  connects with me and my audience. Namaste.” - Chris de Lizer

This particular project is near and dear to my heart, because it was the project that sparked a renewed interest in videography, and ultimately launched Motorkast. Live music has always been a big part of my life and I love going to shows. Being able to work with a band has given me the opportunity to combine two of my passions.
